The Sleep Europe Foundation (SEF) promotes the careers of young scientists, researchers, clinicians, and sleep technologists in sleep research and sleep medicine. A key focus is the exchange of scientific and professional knowledge. The SEF supports its targeted groups with travel grants for sleep-related congresses, conferences, or symposia in Europe. In 2026, the SEF will award twenty travel grants for the 2026 ESRS Congress in Maastricht, Belgium. The travel grant will be disbursed as a lump sum to cover travel costs and accommodation.Each travel grant amount is 500 EUR.
General Conditions:
- Application is open to all nationalities and candidates residing in Europe.
- Candidates playing an active role in the congress (e.g., oral presentation, poster) will be given priority.
- There is no age limit; however, candidates in the early stages of their careers will be given preference.
Application conditions
- A cover letter (max. 1 page) specifying the following:
How will your attendance at the meeting benefit your career and what learning goals do you pursue?
Why will this specific meeting be especially beneficial for you?
Are you going to play an active role at the meeting? - CV including list of publications
- Passport or ID scan
- Event documentation (program, abstract acceptance etc.)
- A statement confirming that costs of travel and accommodation are not being fully or partially sponsored by any other funding party. No co-funding!
- Upon completion of the event, a certificate of attendance, and, if applicable, a proof of active participation in the event must be submitted.
Applicants with missing reports or reports evaluated as incomplete or unsatisfactory by the SEF will be banned from applying for SEFS grants for 5 years.
- Recipients of the travel grant agree to provide a report on their experience upon request from SEF. They agree that this report might be published by the SEF.
- By submitting the application, the applicant agrees to the conditions above.
